Our Club History
On May 31, 1981, the Cary Central Rotary Club received its charter from Rotary International's District 7710, and with 25 Charter Members it became Cary's second established Rotary club. John Hatcher, a member of the already established Cary Rotary Club, represented the District Governor by providing leadership in member recruitment and the formation of our club. The original meeting site for the breakfast club was Rogers Restaurant located in the heart of downtown Cary, and the meeting time was set for Mondays at 7:00 AM. For most of its history, Cary Central has maintained a roster of 40-45 diverse members. Today our club has approximately 35 members, six of whom are active Charter Members.
(reword this paragraph) Cary Central was the first club in the district to twice be chosen Best Club of the Year. Cary Central consistently achieves the highest meeting attendance percentage in the District. The club has also participated in the chartering of four new Rotary clubs, as well as sponsoring the Interact club at Cary High School. Cary Central actively supports educational scholarships, community and international charities, character education, and business ethics. Most of our projects arc fund-raising initiatives in support of these activities. Others arc donations of our labor and expertise. Join us, to help make a difference in your community and your world.
